「雙面敘事、一戲二秀」 -- 一部戲,兩個演出

這是卜卜劇場第一次別開生面的創作實驗 -- 一部戲,先後在吉隆坡與台北,從不同面向、不同視角、以至不同時空的角度敘事,“生出”兩個不同的演出。由此,我們不再單面的說一個故事,而是雙面的敘事 -- 兩地的觀眾將從各自不同的視角去窺伺同一個故事,跨國界探討我們共同的【囚】~

「A Story in 2 Sides. A Play in 2 Shows」-- one play, two performances

This is Pitapat Theatre's first attempt of experimenting a very different creative approach ---- a play to be performed through two different shows in Kuala Lumpur and Taipei, with telling a same story from two different angles of interpretation. Audience from KL and Taipei will experience a different side of the same story through two different performances in two different places~

Synopsis 劇情簡介:

生活中,有些物件會突然不見了;

記憶裡,有些事會突然被忘記了;
歷史中,有些人,會突然不見掉;
腦袋裡,他們把囚著自己的囚室的鑰匙,也弄不見了。

很多年前,因為一次他至今也搞不清楚怎麼發生的社會動亂,他的哥哥從此“不見了”;
很多年後,因為一次她也不大確定是怎麼樣的失誤,她的丈夫從此失蹤了;
再几年后,她长大了。面着瘫痪的爷爷,怨着忙碌的妈妈,她一心只念着消失的爸爸。在寻找爸爸的过程中,她投入虚拟世界,开启了囚禁多年的消息,回忆,秘密...

In life, things will disappear suddenly;
in memories, some events will be forgotten suddenly;
in history, some people, will be disappeared suddenly;
and in minds, their keys of the 'squares' that imprison themselves, are lost.

Years ago, because of a riot that he doesn't understand till now, his lost his brother;
Years after, because of a mistake that she doesn't understand, her husband was disappeared;
Few more years later, she grew up, facing her paralysed grandpa, and her mom who she hardly communicates, she misses her unseen father, and she looks for him, through entering digital world.... then, those memories, secrets, truths are gradually unleashing......

Restart  重新開始

Premier on 21 July 2022, at NOW Theatre (Kuala Lumpur) .

首演於2022年7月21日,於吉隆坡“鬧劇場”。

"RESTART" is an original play written by Soo Ming and performed by students-actors of Pitapat Actors Training Class who trained under Pitapat Theatre since 2019.

 

"You keep going, keep going, you realize that life is like a trading game, the cost is time, and you spend your whole life to realize that the only thing you gain is useless memories... "

Ten years ago, they were married couple, they almost had a child, but their marriage was in ruins, then a big impact had dissolved the marriage, and took away the child.

After that, they restart their lives separately...

Ten years later, they reunited at a convenience store...

"How are you? "

And their "restart" are now encountering a new impact, where they are about to restart, again...

“你走,你走,你發現生命是一場買賣,本錢是時間,跑了一生才明白你買來的實是虛無縹緲的記憶......”

十年前他們是夫妻,差點就會有個小孩,可是他們婚姻在癱瘓中,一場衝擊沖散了婚姻,也沖走了小孩.

隨後他們各自重新開始,也重新結束 ...

十年後,他們在便利店重逢...

“你好嗎?”

他們各自的“重新開始”重新遇上了另一衝擊,他們的“重新開始”於是又要重新開始了...

Two rooms, two persons.
not remembering when it started, and when it ended;
not remembering how they entered, or how they left;
not remembering why they forgot.

The mind has forgotten, but the body remembers.
SHE remembers the bird that flew in the sky, as if it was sent to take her away; while HE who remembers everything, hopes that she would forget...

This, is a dialogue between the survivor (or persecutor?) and the victim;
a poem, and a tribute for the people who fought and are still fighting for democracy.

<One Hundred Days of Solitude> is inspired by the new world, new living that caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The play contemplates the distance between life and death through a car accident victim who suffers a long time coma, where he is in the middle of living and dying...

 

《一百天的孤獨》寫於新冠肺炎疫情期間,啟發自‘新常態’下對於生存與死亡間的距離的冥想。

故事透過一個遭遇嚴重交通意外而陷入長時間昏迷狀態的“半死人”孤獨面對生死期間的思想狀態,探討生命的無常與荒謬......

首演於2019年6月21日,於森美蘭州芙蓉市新聯益酒店。

"Theatre in Hotel" is the first theatre performance of Pitapat Theatre after it moved from Sabah to the Peninsular Malaysia.  And it is also the first attempt of the company to explore site specific theatre.  In this project, Pitapat invited artists from Singapore (Grace Lee-Khoo, Tung Ka Wai, Vignesh Singh), Sabah (Rhian Hiew), and Kuala Lumpur (Vanessa Wu) who created four short plays in the performance.  

Those plays are:

A Grinder's Diary, Martha Goes: To Work, Box, and The One When He Was Late.

A Grinder's Diary is a collaboration theatre project between Pitapat Theatre and Access Path Production from Singapore, whereas this performance was the presentation of the 1st phase of work in progress of the piece.

“劇場。酒店”是卜卜劇場西遷至馬來西亞半島後的第一次演出,也是劇團第一部環境劇場演出。演出邀請了來自新加坡的邱子睿、董家威、Vignesh Singh、沙巴的邱凱沁以及吉隆坡的伍佩佩,帶來了四個戲劇小品:

"絞人日記“、”瑪莎去:工作“、”盒子“、”他遲到的時光“

其中小品“絞人日記”是卜卜劇場與新加坡的Access Path Production(邱子睿、董家威)的一個聯合創作計劃,此次演出是作品的第一次創作呈現。

 

Metamorphosisters 變形三姐妹

METAMORPHOSISTERS is a new international collaboration project initiated by Pitapat Theatre. The project team which involves artists from Malaysia (Seng Soo Ming, Phoebe Tsen), Taiwan (Lai Li Ting), Hongkong (Kady Cheung) and Brunei (Elisha Tiga) will create an original theatre piece based on 2 classical work - The Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov and Metamorphosis by Kafka, intend to discover the absurdity that lays under our daily life and how it turns out to be an invisible giant that ate up humanity. 

 

This open presentation is to share the 1st stage of work after 4 weeks of devising, and also to raise funds for future performance touring in various places such as Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan, Hongkong , Singapore etc.

 

【變形三姐妹】是卜卜劇場的首次跨國創作計畫。五位來自馬來西亞(程守明、曾莉婷)、香港(張卓琪)、台灣(賴麗婷)、汶萊(Elisha Tiga)的創作團隊將集體創作一部啟發自19世紀末,20世紀初的兩部經典-契柯夫的《三姐妹》及卡夫卡的《變形記》-的原創劇場作品,探索我們日常生活的荒謬性以及它如何逐漸變成一隻巨獸,蠶食著人性。

此次呈現是要跟觀眾分享團隊一個月的創作成果,同時也是為未來的國際巡演籌募經費。

Won Best Actor in Leading Role, Best Actress in Leading Role, Best Image Design in the 15th ADA Drama Awards in Kuala Lumpur.

KAKAK a.k.a The Maids (version 2) is Pitapat's second adaptation of Jean Genet's The Maids. As like the first adaptation, it emerges local context of Malaysia into the play that touches the issues of interracial conflicts, social status conflicts etc.  The multilingual approach turned the play into an even more convincing and complete play by it's own.  It stood out from the original play and becomes a new work meanwhile remains and strengthen what the original play intended to voice out.

“下人”(第二版)是卜卜劇場第二次改編惹內的“女僕”。如之前的第一版改編一樣,下人依然把馬來西亞的當代社會課題融入劇本,從而探索到種族矛盾、社會階級衝突等課題。其多語言的處理使之更貼近當代多元社會的面貌,引起更大的共鳴,把一部“荒謬主義”戲劇變得趨向“寫實化了”。第二次改編的“下人”除了取消了女主人的角色以外,也其實走出了原著劇本,成為獨立的一部作品。

Theatre In Kampung : IslandShade is Pitapat Theatre's first international collaboration theatre project.  It is a triple bill theatre performance that includes three short plays created by Zizi Hau (Sabah) and Kady Cheung from HongKong.   The three short plays: ISLAND, SHADE, AMAZING GRACE reflect the artists' concerns of inner world of women while facing the traditional value that restrains the freedom and suffocates the existence of women.

”鄉下劇場:島影 ”是卜卜劇場第一部跨國合作的演出。演出含有三部短劇,分別有沙巴的侯桂芝以及香港的張卓琪創作兼演出。三部小品劇目為:“島”、“影”、“Amazing Grace“​。三部作品反映出創作者對女性議題的關注,並突出了女性在傳統價值觀以及當代社會規律的夾擊下的窒息狀態。

KAKAK a.k.a The Maids  is an adaptation of Jean Genet's The Maids. It is the first attempt of Pitapat Theatre to adapt an absurd theatre play.  The approach taken is emerging local context of Malaysia into the play that touches the issues of interracial conflicts, social status conflicts etc.  One of the significant element of this adaptation is that it is performed in multilingual, and the languages are not only used for telling story but also as part of the elements of portraying the hierarchy and complicity of the characters.

“下人”改編自惹內的“女僕”。這是卜卜劇場首次改編荒謬戲劇的作品。下人把馬來西亞的當代社會課題融入劇本,從而探索到種族矛盾、社會階級衝突等課題。其中最重要的元素是劇中人物是以多語言溝通,多語言的處理不只是為了對話以及敘事,它更是凸顯劇中表達的種族分歧、階級衝突的重要線索。

首演於2016年10月28日,於台灣思劇場(台灣“大稻埕國際藝術節”演出節目之一)

An Enemy of The People. At The Moment (version 3) a.k.a DOGS, is Pitapat's third adaptation of Ibsen's An Enemy Of The People, which is also considered the boldest version that we totally transformed the aesthetic of the play into a new form that combining storytelling, ritualistic elements, role playing etc that tell the story of the Stockmann brothers from a very different angle.  This version of adaptation not only continues the minimalistic approach of the previous versions, but push it to even further, that only two actors running the "ritual" of "bringing the spirits of the Stockmanns alive", in a small and intimate space. 

 

“人民公敵. 現在進行式 (第三版)” 又名 “群狗”,是卜卜劇場第三度改編易卜生名劇“人民公敵”。這一次的改編也可說是最大幅度以及最大膽的改編,除了原劇中的人物以及故事背景以外,整體結構、形式、劇本都完全蓋頭換面了。“群狗” 以一種類似宗教儀式的手法拉開序幕,接著透過說書、角色扮演、詩的吟誦帶出人物、故事的側寫,描摹出幾個主要人物以至整個事件的不同面向與視角。而此次的改編也延續了前兩版的簡約主義處理,並且將之推向極致 -- 把一部人物眾多的寫實劇只由兩個演員在狹小的空間內近距離向觀眾來詮釋演繹。

An Enemy Of The People. At The Moment

人民公敵. 現在進行式(version 2) 

Premier on 28 March 2016, at DPAC (Damansara, Selangor)

Winner of Best Director (Seng Soo Ming), Best Actress in Leading Role (Rosmawati binti Koroh), Best New Actress (Rosmawati binti Koroh) and Best Lighting Design in the 14th ADA Drama Awards.

首演於2016年3月28日,於白沙羅表演藝術中心黑箱劇場(雪蘭莪州,馬來西亞)。

於2017年榮獲第14屆馬來西亞戲炬獎四項獎項:最佳導演(程守明)、最佳女主角與最佳女新人(羅斯瑪娃蒂)以及最佳燈光設計(陳薇琪)。

This is Pitapat's second adaptation of An Enemy Of The People. At The Moment.  With lesser actors compare to the first version, it went even deeper in digging the context of the original play, with emerging the local political context in Malaysia in that period of time, that even echoing the notion of "at the moment" in the title.  In terms of art form, it inherits the same approach as the first version, where actors portraying the characters more like in a Brechtian play than in a realistic acting.  And it is performed in multilingual, that besides to portray the reality of Malaysia's plural society, also intends to create a different musicality of language in theatre.

這是卜卜劇場第二度改編易卜生的“人民公敵”。這一次的版本用了更少的演員,並更深入的挖掘劇中人物的心理矛盾以及故事的潛在議題,並進一步融合馬來西亞當下的本土政治議題 -- 這也說明了劇名中“現在進行式”。在藝術形式方面,這次的改編承繼了第一版的手法 -- 演員們以更近於布萊希特式的疏離效果方式演繹了劇中人物,並且是以多語言方式詮釋。多語言的手法除了為了更貼近本土的社會現實,更是企圖創造一種新的、更貼近現實的劇場音樂感。

An Enemy Of The People. At The Moment

Adapted from Ibsen's classical play, An Enemy Of The People. At The Moment reimagined the story with contemporary political context in Malaysia, contemplated the influence of mass media and the ignorance of the public in the modern world.  The play invites audience to see the whole incidents with critical point of view through simple setting (only a few chairs and some costumes) and actors dressing in plain clothes - which is no different than being naked, who led the audience into a journey of role-playing, role-changing, ritualistic ceremony etc in portraying different angle of the story.  

改編自易卜生的經典劇作,”人民公敵.現在進行式“融合馬來西亞當代政治議題作為當代與經典結合的橋樑,同時探討大眾媒體的巨大影響力以及群眾的無知如何扭曲人性。劇中的簡約主義設計(舞台上只有幾張椅子以及幾件服裝)以及演員猶如赤裸的肉色服裝,引領觀眾走入一場透過角色扮演、角色交換、猶如宗教儀式的形式、抑或家家酒般的遊戲帶出的“人民公敵”故事的不同面向。

Merah 見紅

MERAH is the first original realistic play created by Pitapat Theatre.  Like all the other works by Pitapat, MERAH concerns about the social issues that hide beneath the daily normal life of a typical family, which raises the crisis of racial problem, status conflict and crisis of communication between generations.

 

 

"Love without sustenance is just like blood that doesn't clot, when a wound is formed, cannot stop bleeding....

 It started in a normal day, in a wealthy family. A successful business man discovered a piece of red cloth from a plastic bag brought back by his wife and his maid; that in a way, affected him, disturbed him, or more accurately, revealed something that’s been hidden in him for a long time. He kept the cloth, not intentionally, though the cloth is not belonged to him. The tricky thing is, none of the family members mentioned anything about it. But he never knew that, it is a sign of revealing the darkness in the family, and tragedy is looming around the corner…"

見紅“是卜卜劇場第一部原創寫實主義戲劇。如卜卜其他的作品般,“見紅”同樣在探討社會問題,透過一個典型家庭所發生的一件小事,引出潛在於平淡無奇並每天重複的生活底下的各種危機,其中探討了種族歧視、階級矛盾以及兩代代溝等等問題。

没有寄托的爱,像没有凝结的血,伤口一经碰撞就 ,血流不止。

《MERAH见红》讲述的是一个三代同堂的马来西亚华籍家庭与一位土著家庭女佣生活在同一屋檐下的生活故事。故事男主人翁亦是这个家庭的一家之主,是一名事业有成的商人,为家庭提供一流的物质享受。某日,妻子购物回家后,男主人独自在客厅里发现了一件莫名奇妙的女性衣物。男主人第一眼看见其衣物时先是惊讶后来产生复杂情感,并无意识地把它收藏了起来。荒谬的是,接下来都没有任何一个人向他提起关于衣物的事情,彷拂它不曾存在过。不料,接下来的短短时间内,男主人的家却发生了一连串的风波。。。。。。

Die Die Tak Bayar 死都不給 

Premier on 15 November 2013, at G.C.Woolley Hall (Sabah, Malaysia)

首演於2013年11月15日,於亞庇G.C.Woolley Hall(沙巴,馬來西亞)

Die Die Tak Bayar is adapted from Dario Fo's Can't Pay! Won't Pay!.  In this adaptation, it added elements that connected with the local content, that resonated the current situation that people were facing, such as a new controversial tax policy was about to launch by the corrupted government etc.  

Before the critical “Patriotic Tax” policy is launched.a supermarket in town has already started raising the goods price.It causes the resistance from the public,they launch a movement of “ DIE DIE TAK BAYAR” in sudden – grab all the goods in the supermarket and resist to pay.

Soon later, the factory’s workers join the movement.They start a strike movement named “ DIE DIE TAK KERJA” to denounce the low salary and the price rising issues.......

On the other side, a Kopi shop lady boss is killed in a car accident.She refuse to die and beg to the Death.And there, she is suhhested to bribe the Death, (means corruption) in order to resurrect…… ’

 

“死都不給”改編自達里奧.弗的“絕不付帳”。此劇加入了許多本土議題元素,尤其呼應了當時民間對於當時貪腐政府將要施行的極具爭議性的新稅收制度的憤怒與憂慮。

”爱国税”即将实行,引起四方争议。镇上的超市趁势提早调涨物价,购物的妇女们忍无可忍当下发起“死都不给”运动,将超市商品一扫而空而拒绝付账……  同时,咖啡店女老板Nora遇上交通意外丧生,正向死神求情,不料死神竟提议她行贿,以便可以复活…

WANTED! was the first theatre production produced by Pitapat Theatre.  It was an original play created by all the casts, led by the founder of Pitapat, Soo Ming, along the training classes.  Which means, the casts of the show were also the first graduates of Pitapat Theatre Classroom, who formed by students from different fields.  The play gathered the life experiences of the students and transformed into a comedy that concerned about the social situation that the local people are facing and how they were dealing with it.

"A group of people are running an actors' audition for a theatre show at a secretly borrowed tuition center’s corridor – as they have no budget for rental.  This narrow corridor becomes a cross point of different people, where conflicts arise.... until they hear a gun shot...

 

 

"門外漢“是卜卜劇場的創團作品。它是由團長程守明帶領第一屆卜卜演員訓練班的學員共同創作的原創喜劇。此演出也是第一次卜卜演員訓練班的結業演出,學員 / 演員都是來自不同領域的社會人士。而此戲也集合了每一位學員的真實生活體驗與故事,轉化而成的一齣喜劇。其中探討了當代當地人們所面對的社會困境以及各種危機,而他們又是如何去面對或化解的。

"他们向朋友借了补习中心的课室进行演员面试。面试当天发现中心没课室可用,唯有瞒着中心在走廊面试演员。狭窄的走廊成了来自不同生活的人的交际点, 直至被执着的管理员发现,他们被迫要离开......正当他们要离开时,发现外面已被恐怖分子包围了......
